A father has been found dead and his two-year-old daughter has been abducted from a small town near the Alberta-B.C. border. Hailey Dunbar-Blanchette, 2, was taken from a residence in Blairmore, Alta., at around 3:30 a.m. Monday, according to Crowsnest RCMP. An Amber Alert was issued in Alberta Monday afternoon for Dunbar-Blanchette and later extended to B.C., Saskatchewan, and south of the border in Montana. It remains in effect. The girl’s father, Terry Blanchette, 27, was found dead at the same residence around 11:15 a.m. after police were alerted to the body by a family member, according to RCMP Supt. Tony Hamori. Hamori told reporters  Monday evening that Blanchette’s death is being treated as a homicide. “We’re working to confirm whether that location was the residence of the father or not,” he added. Gary Richrath, a former guitarist for the classic rock band REO Speedwagon who also co-wrote the group's hit song "Take It on the Run," died Sunday, according to a publicist for the band. He was 65. Erik Stein confirmed on Monday that Richrath died but offered no details about the cause of death. Richrath was born in October 1949, according to public records. He was a member of the band when it released its self-titled debut in 1971 and was with REO Speedwagon until 1989. Richrath co-wrote some of the band's songs, including "Take It on the Run," which became a Top 5 pop hit on the Billboard charts. "I feel so sad. An employee at Delta State University is a suspect in the shooting death of a history professor there Monday, police said. Shannon Lamb, an instructor at the school in Cleveland, Mississippi, remains at large and is considered armed and dangerous, Cleveland Police Chief Charles Bingham told reporters. Police in a city 300 miles away also described Lamb as a suspect in another homicide there. "We do not have the suspect in custody at this moment, but we are actively pursuing him," Bingham said. He declined to detail a motive in the case. "Right now we have no motive," Bingham said, "and we're not going to speculate on a motive until we have facts in hand." An Endicott man could be facing decades behind bars after a grand jury indicted him in the kidnapping and rape of a Wisconsin woman he invited to Broome County after they met via the business networking website LinkedIn. Larry J. Servedio , 50, of East Main Street, was arraigned on a 24-count indictment Friday in Broome County Court. He is being held in jail without bail. Endicott police say he forged a friendship with a 52-year-old woman through online LinkedIn messages, which prompted her to visit him in July. Then, police say, he used manipulation and intimidation over the course of four days to force her into sexual contact and prevent her from returning home.
